[LDAP-interop] solaris 9 openldap server and native ldap clients

I am trying to configure a solaris 9 server and use Native LDAP to
communicate with the server via tls.

I have followed the instructions on Gary Tay's web site pretty much to the
letter and have everything working on the server side according to his test
( that is a pretty good assumption on my part based on the outputs ). I
have copied his profiles changing only the things that are different in my
environment. And for the native ldap client I have edited the two files
/var/ldap/ldap_client_cred and
/var/ldap/ldap_client_ file

exactly as they are listed in step 5.

when I try to use getent or ldaplist as mentioned in the steps I get

conn unavailable. messages from ldap.

Question has anyone on the planet besides gary, gotten solaris 9 to work
with native ldap, using gary's instructions.

If you have how in the heck did you get native ldap to work.

Question two, can you spend a couple of emails to help me get over this
hump as it is the last thing I need to accomplish on this project.
I am sure it is just attempting to bind to the wrong profile or the cred
file or client file is hosed.

recall I am assuming that gary's setup as posted on the web is supposed to
work.

Any help from someone familiar with openldap and native ldap client would be
appreciated.

Thanks.

gary's site is http://www.singnet.com.sg/~garyttt

step 5 is what I am looking at. I did not do step 4 because it seemed as if
that was for other unix ldap clients not
native ldap. This could be wrong assumption.
