From chicks at chicks.net Wed May 16 09:25:11 2007 From: chicks at chicks.net (Christopher Hicks) Date: Wed May 16 09:27:25 2007 Subject: [UUFP-techs] an apology for my email behaviour Message-ID: <20070516132511.GI18411@chicks.net> Please accept my apologies for publicly berating members and staff of our Fellowship. I acted with reckless disregard to the feelings of other participants and I deeply regret that misstep. Meg spoke with me a week ago about how I handled myself and I have come to realize that I significantly overstepped the bounds of civil discourse. One amusing point of all this might help this make more sense to you. Meg asked me to treat the UUFP like a client. This helped me realize that this is exactly what I was doing and that I needed to stop. When I have a client that does not listen to sound advice I turn up the heat. Then their either listen or fire me. Either way is fine because I just want to get out of the frustrating situation. I can't treat the fellowship this way. I don't want to get fired. I'm trying to deal with the remaining frustration in a less infantile way. Again, please accept my apologies for disrespectful behaviour. If there's ever any thoughtful conversation on the uufp's technology or security I would be glad and honored to be allowed to participate. Thank you again for your time. -- The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts. - Bertrand Russell, philosopher, mathematician, author, Nobel laureate (1872-1970) From bboke at cox.net Wed May 16 10:54:09 2007 From: bboke at cox.net (Beverly Boke) Date: Wed May 16 13:54:59 2007 Subject: [UUFP-techs] Re: an apology for my email behaviour In-Reply-To: <20070516132511.GI18411@chicks.net> Message-ID: We all need to take a deep breath and begin again in loving kindness. I include myself in that admonishment. Luckily, Meg has a good handle on this issue and will exercise leadership in pulling together the people who have a stake in the issue. I trust her guidance and know she will keep all of us in the right frame of mind. Thank you, Chris, for being strong enough to say what you said. You have much to bring to the conversation.
